WEDDING PARTIES

To have or not to have that is the question here! Wedding parties can be very fun, exciting and provide a sense of comfort for the newly engaged couple. But how do you know if having a wedding party is something you really, really want. So my hope with this post is to give you just a little bit of insight in helping you decide if having a wedding party, big or small, would be of interest for you. Now ultimately the end decision is a choice between you and your future spouse that should be given some serious consideration.

Let’s start at the top! What do most people think of when it comes to wedding parties? Fun! Parties! Parties! and probably another Party. They think of their closest friends, maybe a couple of close family members that will be thrilled to be a part of your wedding. Most wedding parties consist of, that longtime friend the bride went to elementary school with or her closest sister to be her maid of honor or the matron of honor. Maybe the grooms best friend since kindergarten will be asked to be the best man, seems fitting right, maybe they all ran in the same circle in their younger or college years. It’s all fun, exciting and thrilling to have all of your closest friends take part of your wedding. But before you start inviting Sally and Ron to be your maid of honor and your best man let’s think about that for a little bit.

It’s no secret that weddings are expensive, the ceremony, reception inviting everyone your parents have been friends with. Even if your plan is to have a smaller celebration of love, it may still get pretty pricey, for ideas on how to save on wedding planning check out my link on Budgets. The average wedding party is typically 4, so you have a matron of honor or made of honor and an equal number of bridesmaids to groomsmen, which also consist of the best man. Now, the people that you choose to be your wedding party squad will no doubt be the most loving, kind and supportive individuals in your life.

My best advice and experience is to have no more than 2 to 3 in your wedding party total, a smaller wedding party can be less stressful on the couple. But, there are other benefits to having a smaller wedding party. It’s just way more intimate to have a smaller, 1 to 2 person wedding party than it is to have a larger, 5 to 6 person wedding party. Now this isn’t the case in every scenario, sometimes the more the merrier works out in everyone’s benefit especially the couple.

But, when deciding on your wedding party squad, remember the choice is yours and there are no rules. You want your wedding party, no matter how many, to not only love and support you as an individual but as the couple you will soon become and to respect you in all your endeavors. ❤️
