Yes?? No?? Maybe?? I say, whatever floats your engagement boat. But also, there are so many benefits to having one. Now, I have worked with couples who have found so much enjoyment with building ( yes I said build) a wedding website. You get to become really crafty in how you showcase your love story online for family and friends to view. Think of having a wedding website as the Facebook of engaged couples. I had one for my wedding and it was such a great tool for the guest to refer to.
Need to remember what we look like? Visit the wedding website. Need to know what to get the happy couple? Visit the wedding registry on the wedding website. Are you a stickler (like me) for keeping (almost) everything online? Then yes, you definitely should consider having a wedding website. But, if you are still on the fence thinking oh no Mrs. Officiant this is going to be just another thing I need to keep track of, keep up and/or monitor. Let me reassure you, yes, yes, you may need to do a few of those things, BUT, stay with me now, the benefits outweigh the headaches, even if you have a wedding planner having a wedding website can assist them as well.
Listed below, I’ve highlighted a few reasons to take the time to consider creating a wedding website. And below that, I have listed reasons to not have a wedding website because honestly, it may not work for everyone even if your reason is, you just don’t want to.
- Organization – everything is in one place for your wedding
- RSVP’s – guest can RSVP right on your wedding website
- Informational – you provide as much or as little wedding related information as you want
- Photo’s, Photo’s and more Photo’s of you together! – what’s better then this
- Accommodations – hotels (make reservations right from the website), directions, etc…
- Wedding registry information
- Weekend events
- Budgeting – keep track of wedding expenses with a built-in budget tool
- Last but not least, any rules, instructions or need-to-know for the wedding guest.
Now, on the off chance you decide, oh this wedding website is just to much work for me. I get that too and if any of these reason resonates with you don’t force yourself to make one.
- Time – you have little to no time to devote to a website
- Cost – beyond the basic profile or platform there could be a cost
- You just don’t know where or how to start – beginning a website if you’ve never done anything of the sort can be tricky to start.
