How Taking Time Off Can Improve your Well-being

Although the holidays are behind us, some of us might still be recovering from the holidays, the parties, family visits, gathering with friends, co-workers, and other holiday events and gatherings and the travel. Let’s not forget the endless traveling some of us do during the holiday season. How did you hold up?

Tell me in the comments. The 2024 holidays for many, including me took its toll mentally, physically, and financially. So much more going on that has affected us directly and indirectly.  As we look ahead and begin to regroup, I wonder how many of us are still in the thrones of re-reorganizing our home.  From holiday parties to decorations to literally repairing some mishaps that take a little bit of paint to repair.

Maybe you are in the percentage that had your house in order by January 31, 2025, big kudos to you, please share your secret, no seriously, I still have lights up on my roof and a reindeer outside.  Wherever you are at the end of February just remember its more then ok to take a break, it’s a necessity and that is exactly what we here at Sealed By Love Candle Co. took advantage of,  a break.

We appreciated it and I know many of you will also. So often, we need to take time off so we can come back stronger, more focused, more energized, mentally, and physically healthier and with more clarity. Life has a interesting and sometimes funny way of making you have a seat when you do not take initiative and put it at the top of your to-do list.

When we ignore it, I know I do and have most my life, it catches up with us, it shows up in the work we produce, it shows up in our bodies and in our relationships but most importantly the relationship we have with ourself. I know I am not alone when it comes to learning how to take some time off just to either read a book,(spoiler alert – I did not finish not one single book on my nightstand), do absolutely nothing or make yourself a nice meal.

So many of us, especially women have been conditioned to always be in motion, always doing, always creating and it has taken me a couple of decades to ask myself the most obvious question of – why?

Rest is self-care, saying no is self-care and it does wonders for your mental health (as does adding one of our candles to any activity you are doing).

So, for the last two months I did a little bit of nothing, celebrated my birthday in January on a nature walk with this gorgeous woman 🥰

and the family singing karaoke – note to self – don’t quit my day job. And now I am back, creating, working on new products and new ventures – because your self-care deserves moreSo stay tuned!  ❤️
